Refund & Cancellation Policy

This policy explains how fees, cancellations, and refunds are handled across Black Diamond's three service divisions. Because each division involves a different scope of work, refund terms differ by division, as described below. The specific terms of your individual service or engagement agreement will govern in the event of any conflict with this general policy.

1. Black Diamond Paralegal Support (Attorneys & Law Firms)

• Fees, billing structure (hourly, flat, or retainer), and payment terms are set out in your individual engagement agreement with Black Diamond.
• Work already performed is non-refundable.
• Deposits or retainers may be required before work begins on a new engagement; unused deposit balances are refunded at the conclusion of the engagement, less fees for work performed.
• If an engagement is canceled before work begins, any deposit paid will be refunded in full, less any nonrefundable processing fees.

2. Black Diamond Bankruptcy Document Preparation (Self-Represented Consumers)

• Fees for document preparation services are disclosed to you in writing before work begins, consistent with applicable bankruptcy petition preparer disclosure requirements.
• Fees are charged for the document preparation services performed — typing, organizing, and assembling your documents — not for any particular outcome in your bankruptcy case.
• Because we do not provide legal advice or determine bankruptcy eligibility, strategy, exemptions, or dischargeability, refunds are not available based on the outcome of your case, a court's decision, or your eligibility to file.
• If you cancel before we begin preparing your documents, you will receive a full refund.
• If you cancel after document preparation has begun but before completion, you will be refunded for any unearned portion of the fee.
• Once your completed documents have been delivered to you for review, fees for that document preparation work are non-refundable.
• If we are unable to complete your requested document preparation due to an error on our part, you will receive an appropriate refund.

3. Black Diamond Document Solutions (Businesses & Professionals)

• Projects are typically billed by deposit and milestone, as set out in your service agreement.
• Deposits are refundable if a project is canceled before work begins.
• Once a milestone or deliverable has been completed and delivered, fees for that milestone are non-refundable.
• Revisions are handled according to the revision terms in your service agreement, separate from this refund policy.
